How to Choose the Right Art Print Size for Your Wall

Size matters almost as much as the subject when choosing art for a wall. An artwork can bring a whole room together, while a smaller print leaves room for several pieces and personal combinations.

Start with the wall

Measure the available wall space and decide whether the artwork should hang above furniture or have a space of its own. Above a sofa or sideboard, it often looks balanced when the width of the artwork relates clearly to the furniture below. Use paper or masking tape on the wall to see how the proportions work in the actual room.

50 x 70 cm: A versatile size

This format works well on smaller walls, in hallways and as part of a gallery wall. It can also stand alone on a narrow section of wall. Many of our art posters are available in 50 x 70 cm, but sizes vary by artwork.

70 x 100 cm: Room for the details

A larger format gives an artwork space to make an impression on its own. It can work well above a sofa or desk, or wherever you want the piece to be a prominent part of the interior. This size is available for both art posters and canvas prints.

100 x 140 cm: A statement piece

A large artwork can give a wall a clear focal point. Consider the viewing distance and the furniture in the room. Measure doors and access routes as well if you are choosing a large canvas print. Not every motif is available in this size.

The material changes the look

An art poster on semi-matte paper has a different surface from a canvas print. Canvas prints reproduce an artwork on textured canvas, while an art poster has the smoother look of paper. Frames, mounts and floating frames also affect how large the artwork feels.

Check the individual product options

Sizes and framing choices can vary from one artwork to another. Always check the available variants and measurements on the product page before ordering. If you have a question about a motif or size, contact us at info@vadmr.com.
