Art Poster or Canvas Print: Which Should You Choose?

A work of art can change the atmosphere of a room. When you choose a print of an original painting, the decision is not just about the subject. The surface, size and overall effect matter too.

What is an art poster?

An art poster is printed on art paper. At Vadim R., our art posters are printed on semi-matte paper with long-lasting colours. Depending on the artwork, you can choose from different sizes and versions with or without a mount (passepartout). The smooth paper surface brings out lines and fine details and works well in a traditional frame.

What is a canvas print?

A canvas print is an artwork reproduced on canvas. The visible texture of the canvas gives it a more tactile, painting-like appearance. Our canvas prints come in different sizes, and selected versions are available with a floating frame. Check the individual product page for the options available.

Which format should you choose?

Choose an art poster if you prefer a light, graphic look, the option of a mount, and the freedom to select a frame that suits your interior.

Choose a canvas print if you like the texture of canvas and an appearance closer to a painting. A floating frame can add depth and a distinctive finish around the artwork.

Size and placement

Consider both the size of the wall and the distance from which you usually see the artwork. A large piece can become the focal point of a room, while a smaller format works well in a gallery wall or a more intimate corner. Always compare the measurements on the product page with the space you have available.
